BUFF 2019 is officially over, and we were thrilled to screen the new NoJSe short film programme for the very first time at the festival. This year’s selected titles are:
‘Rå’ by Sophia Bösch (SE), 'Home Grown' by William Reynish (DK),
'Liar Girl' by Marjo Viitala (FI) and 'Traces' by Ingvild Søderlind (NO).
The 1st Nordic Junior Session is done
On Thursday March 28th, we were proud to present the first ever Nordic Junior Sessions seminar at BUFF Malmö Film Festival. The seminar titled ‘The Youth Film of the Future’ was moderated by journalist and film critic Camilla Larsson and featured panels in two sections, first with the film consultants, and then followed by the filmmakers.
The panel consisted of:
Jenny Gilbertsson, film consultant (The Swedish Film Institute)
Lotte Svendsen, film consultant (The Danish Film Institute)
Kaspar Munch, Director (DK)
Ivica Zubak, Director (SE)
Thea Hvistendahl, Director (NO)
Therese Högberg, Producer (SE)
The panel debated the future of youth content, new formats and new platforms. Will we ever get the youth back into the cinemas, or should we rather be shifting our focus to new media formats? Is creating a solid Social Media strategy possibly the answer to reach the youth audience? How can we ensure that the really good stories are actually being written in the first place?
The discussion could have gone on way beyond the scheduled time frame – and we are looking forward to continue the debate with you all across the Nordic countries.
Up next on the NoJSe programme is Kristiansand International Children’s Film Festival (Barnefilmfestivalen) in Norway (April 29th - May 4th 2019), where you also will have the opportunity to catch the NoJSe short film programme ‘Nordisk kort’ on May 2nd at 9:45.
See you in Kristiansand!
